The Shop

Part apothecary,
part corner-store treasure hunt.

"The Spice Rack is a small boutique apothecary offering more than 500 teas, herbs, and spices. We also craft custom herbal medicinal products and gifts. Minority woman owned and operated."

Tucked into the Plaza in Las Vegas, NM, The Spice Rack is the kind of shop where you come in for one thing and leave with a honey bear, a pair of earrings, and a tincture you didn't know you needed. Many of the shelf labels are hand-lettered.

Teas, Herbs & Spices

Row after row of hand-labeled mason jars — everything from kitchen spice blends and chile powders to loose-leaf teas and dried flowers.

New this season: dried blue lotus flower, sold by the bag for tea, bath soaks, or smoking blends.

What's on the wall.

Browse and search the shop's printed lists of teas, spices, and herbs. Stock changes, so call or stop by to check what's on the shelf today.

Needs April's OK before launch: the lists were copied from photos of her printed lists. Some entries at the bottom of columns may be missing, a few printed spellings look off (kept as printed), and six names that sound like health claims (Big C Blend, Everyday Wellness, Get In My Belly, Men's Wellness Support, Ouch My Throat, Regulan-Tea) are shown but need her approval.

Tinctures & Remedios

This is where the shop earns the "apothecary" in its name. The house Osha Root Tincture, made in an alcohol base, is labeled "Handcrafted at The Spice Rack." You'll also find saffron-infused honey and elderberry-infused local honey on the shelves.

custom formularies

Blended for you, not for everyone.

Beyond the jars on the wall, April makes custom herbal formularies for her regular clients. Share a few details about yourself and what you're dealing with, and she'll follow up with you about a blend.

Takes about two minutes. Your answers go to April by email.

Herbal products are not intended to diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent any disease, and are not a substitute for medical care.

What April will ask

  • Age
  • Height & weight
  • Allergies
  • Current medications
  • What you're dealing with right now

…plus your name and how to reach you.

how it works

Three steps to your custom blend.

  1. Tell April about you

Fill out the short : your details and what you're dealing with right now. It goes straight to April.

  2. April formulates

April puts your blend together herself, based on what you shared.

  3. Deposit & pickup

A deposit may be required and goes toward your total. Pick up in the shop, or ask about shipping.

Needs April's OK before launch: steps 2 and 3 (who makes each blend, deposit, pickup and shipping) come from an earlier draft and have not been confirmed by her.
